In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: f2fs: avoid reading already updated pages during GC We found the following issue…CVE-2026-53018
0

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's f2fs filesystem was identified and resolved. The issue involves the garbage collection (GC) process reading pages that have already been updated, which can trigger kernel bugs and potentially cause system instability. This occurs because the GC initiates I/O on pages unnecessarily, despite them being marked as up-to-date after being moved. The problem was discovered through fuzz testing and is related to a previously reported issue causing encrypted file corruption. The vulnerability affects multiple Ubuntu versions prior to specific kernel releases.
