A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 WiFi driver was fixed. The issue occurred when the function mt76_connac_mcu_alloc_sta_req() allocated memory that was not freed if certain intermediate functions failed, leading to resource leakage. This flaw was addressed by explicitly freeing the allocated memory in error paths. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28 and related builds. A patch is available and should be applied to prevent potential denial of service due to memory exhaustion.
