The issue occurs because the mb_cache_destroy() function does not cancel a pending shrink work item before freeing the cache, allowing a worker to access freed memory. This vulnerability requires privileged access and can be triggered by unmounting certain filesystems. The flaw affects specific linux-aws kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1 and related builds. A fix involves cancelling the work item before freeing the cache to prevent use-after-free.
