A stack overflow vulnerability exists in gfs2-utils due to unbounded use of alloca() based on the di_depth field from untrusted GFS2 filesystem images. This can cause stack exhaustion and denial of service when running fsck.gfs2, gfs2_edit, or savemeta on crafted images. The vulnerability requires local access and user interaction and does not affect the kernel GFS2 driver. Mitigations include running tools in isolated environments and disabling automatic fsck at boot until patched.
