A vulnerability in Node.js URL processing causes an assertion failure in native code when the url.format() function is called with a malformed internationalized domain name containing invalid characters. This flaw leads to a crash of the Node.js process. The issue affects Node.js versions from 24.0.0 up to but not including 24.14.1, and from 25.0.0 up to but not including 25.8.2.
