AI-suggested

Red Hat advises maintaining or reverting the IIOP subsystem's caller propagation setting to the default 'none' to prevent unauthenticated principal assertion. Administrators should ensure application deployment descriptors do not override this setting to 'supported'. Network reachability to the CORBA/IIOP port (default TCP 3528) should be restricted or blocked using firewall rules to limit access to trusted networks. If caller propagation is required, enforce transport-level security by requiring SSL/TLS with client certificate authentication or mandatory authentication context. Configuration changes require reloading the runtime service, which may cause temporary service interruption.

Description

A vulnerability in Wildfly allows remote attackers to bypass authentication on IIOP EJB invocations due to the CSIv2 security interceptor accepting ITTPrincipalName identity assertions without verifying transport-level authentication. This enables pre-authentication attackers on port 3528 to impersonate any principal on IIOP-exposed @Remote EJBs. The issue requires non-default configurations enabling caller propagation without enforcing mutual TLS or mandatory authentication. Default configurations are not affected.
