Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-94579 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the PAM session cleanup routines of Brocade Fabric OS. It affects versions prior to 9.2.2d and versions from 10.0.0 up to 10.0.0a1. The flaw allows an authenticated user, who authenticates via an external directory or AAA service and whose username or profile identifier includes shell metacharacters, to trigger arbitrary command execution with root privileges upon SSH session termination.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in arbitrary command execution with root privileges on the affected system during SSH session termination. This can lead to full system compromise by an authenticated user. The vulnerability requires the attacker to be authenticated and to have a username or profile identifier crafted with shell metacharacters.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch information is provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, restrict or sanitize usernames and profile identifiers to prevent shell metacharacters and monitor authentication sources for suspicious entries.
