Technical Analysis

The Ultimate YouTube Video & Shorts Player With Vimeo WordPress plugin suffers from a missing authorization check (CWE-862) in its get_setting() function across all versions up to 3.3. This flaw permits authenticated users with minimal privileges (Subscriber-level and above) to access playlist settings without proper permission checks. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.3, indicating medium severity, with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and no user interaction required. There is no vendor advisory or patch information available, and the plugin is not a cloud service.

Potential Impact

Authenticated users with Subscriber-level access or higher can view playlist settings that should be restricted. This unauthorized access could lead to information disclosure of configuration details but does not affect data integrity or availability. There are no known exploits in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict Subscriber-level access to trusted users only to minimize exposure. Monitor for updates from the plugin vendor regarding patches or official fixes.
