A patch is available and should be applied. Fixed versions include 5.4.0-1128.138~18.04.1 and later releases as listed. Users should upgrade to these fixed kernel versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mac80211 WiFi subsystem was fixed. The issue occurs when moving a station out of a VLAN and deleting the VLAN, where the fast_rx entry retains a pointer to the deleted VLAN's net device, potentially causing memory corruption. This flaw has been addressed by invoking ieee80211_check_fast_rx immediately after VLAN changes.
