A fix is available and has been released in multiple Linux kernel versions including 5.4.0-1128.138~18.04.1 and later. Users should apply the official kernel updates provided by their Linux distribution vendors to remediate this issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying these patches.
Description
CVE-2024-35819 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's soc: fsl: qbman component where a raw spinlock was not used for the cgr_lock. The issue arises because smp_call_function always runs its callback in hard IRQ context, even on PREEMPT_RT kernels where spinlocks can sleep, potentially causing a wait on a sleeping task. This bug became apparent after a specific commit that invokes smp_call_function_single on link state changes. The vulnerability has been fixed in several Linux kernel versions.
