Description
CVE-2024-36017 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rtnetlink subsystem where nested IFLA_VF_VLAN_LIST attribute validation was insufficient. The vulnerability arises because the size check for attributes assumed to be struct ifla_vf_vlan_info was too small, potentially causing out-of-bounds read access. This flaw has been fixed in multiple Linux kernel versions, including various 5.4.x releases. The vulnerability has a medium severity score and does not have known exploits in the wild.
