A patch addressing this vulnerability is available and included in Linux kernel versions 5.4.0-1077.82 and later. Users should update their Linux kernel to one of the fixed versions listed in the advisory to remediate this issue. No additional mitigations are required as the patch fully resolves the flaw.
Description
CVE-2024-36933 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NSH (Network Service Header) GSO segmentation handler. It involves improper restoration of skb (socket buffer) fields related to the outer header during segmentation, which can cause packet headers to be incorrectly processed or stripped. This flaw affects network packet handling when NSH encapsulates multiple protocols, potentially leading to memory corruption or packet misrouting. The issue has been fixed in several Linux kernel versions starting from 5.4.0-1077.82 and later. A patch is available and should be applied to affected systems.
