A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should update to the latest kernel version containing this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official kernel update is the recommended remediation.
Description
CVE-2024-43913 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NVMe apple driver related to improper device reference counting. The flaw involved incorrect handling of device memory during error conditions, specifically leaking controller device memory on a tagset failure. This issue has been fixed by ensuring proper calls to nvme_uninit_ctrl after nvme_init_ctrl and restructuring allocation to simplify error handling.
