Users should monitor vendor advisories for updates. Until a fix is released, consider restricting access to the RGW service or applying network-level controls to limit exposure to untrusted users. Avoid using the 'x-amz-copy-source' argument with empty content if possible.
Description
CVE-2024-47866 is a high-severity vulnerability in Ceph versions up to and including 19.2.3. It involves improper input validation of the 'x-amz-copy-source' argument when putting an object with an empty string as its content. This flaw causes the RGW daemon to crash, resulting in a denial-of-service (DoS) condition. No patched versions are currently known at the time of publication.
