Technical Analysis

The vulnerability CVE-2024-52723 affects TOTOLINK X6000R version V9.4.0cu.1041_B20240224. It is caused by insufficient input validation in the Uci_Set Str function within the shttpd file, which handles HTTP requests. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the device by crafting a malicious payload. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 9.8, reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. No vendor advisory or patch information is currently available, and the vulnerability is publicly disclosed.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in unauthenticated remote code execution on the affected device, potentially leading to full system compromise including complete control over the device, data theft, disruption of service, or use as a pivot point for further network attacks. The high CVSS score (9.8) confirms the critical nature of this vulnerability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict network access to the affected device's management interfaces and monitor for suspicious activity. Avoid exposing the device's HTTP management interface to untrusted networks. Follow vendor communications closely for updates on patches or official mitigations.
