Description
CVE-2024-53098 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/xe/ufence component. It involves insufficient validation of user-supplied addresses, where the kernel only checked for address overflow but did not attempt to read the address to detect invalid addresses from userspace. This flaw was fixed by adding a prefetch of the ufence address to catch bogus addresses. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 6.11.0-1012.12~24.04.1 and related builds. A patch is available and has been incorporated into fixed kernel versions.
