Technical Analysis

Netskope Client for Windows contains an exposed IOCTL interface with insufficient access control (CWE-782). A malicious insider possessing administrative privileges can exploit this by sending specially crafted IOCTL requests to the driver, potentially bypassing all anti-tampering protections of the NSClient. This vulnerability affects all versions prior to R138. No official patch or remediation level has been provided by the vendor as of the published date.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows a privileged insider to bypass anti-tampering protections of the Netskope Client, potentially enabling unauthorized modification or interference with the client’s operation. This could undermine the integrity and security assurances provided by the client software.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no official fix or remediation level is provided, organizations should monitor vendor communications for updates. Restrict administrative privileges to trusted personnel and consider additional monitoring of privileged activities as a precaution until a fix is available.
