Technical Analysis

The Translate WordPress with GTranslate plugin versions prior to 3.0.10 do not validate one of their settings before using it in front-end script markup generation. This improper validation enables administrators to store JavaScript code that executes in the browser session of any site visitor, constituting a stored Cross-Site Scripting (CWE-79) vulnerability.

Potential Impact

An attacker with administrator access can inject malicious JavaScript that executes in the browsers of site visitors. This could lead to session hijacking, defacement, or other client-side attacks against visitors. The vulnerability requires administrator privileges to exploit, limiting the attack vector to trusted users with high-level access.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Translate WordPress with GTranslate plugin to version 3.0.10 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation guidance is provided; patching is the recommended action.
