Upgrade GitHub Enterprise Server to version 3.19.6 or later, or 3.20.2 or later, where the vulnerability has been fixed. No other mitigations are indicated or required as the fix addresses the root cause of improper sanitization.
Description
A reflected HTML injection vulnerability exists in the GitHub Enterprise Server Management Console login page. The flaw involves the redirect_to query parameter on the /setup/unlock endpoint being reflected into an HTML attribute without proper sanitization. This allows an attacker to inject a form element that could capture administrator credentials if the administrator clicks a crafted link and enters their credentials. The vulnerability affects GitHub Enterprise Server versions 3.19.1 through 3.19.5 and 3.20.0 through 3.20.1 and was fixed in versions 3.19.6 and 3.20.2.
