What to do

AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by adding proper synchronization using rtnl_mutex in the ibmveth driver. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes this fix. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are described in the advisory.

Description

CVE-2025-22053 is a Linux kernel vulnerability in the ibmveth network driver where concurrent calls to the veth_pool_store function can cause the system to hang. This occurs due to improper synchronization leading to multiple calls in a row to napi_disable, resulting in a deadlock. The issue is triggered by writing to specific sysfs pool entries and affects multi-threaded environments. The vulnerability has been resolved by introducing proper locking with rtnl_mutex to synchronize veth_pool_store with related functions.
