What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented that adds locking to prevent concurrent access to the same file pointer during file table removal. Users should apply the official Linux kernel patches that address this issue. Since this is a kernel vulnerability, updating to a fixed kernel version is the recommended remediation.

Description

CVE-2025-37952 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd component. It occurs when one thread destroys a file while another thread still holds a reference to it, due to insufficient reference count checks. The flaw allows potential corruption or compromise of kernel memory. The issue is fixed by adding locking around file removal operations to prevent concurrent access to the same file pointer.
