A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update to a Linux kernel version that includes the patches referenced by the fixed commit hashes. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability was identified in the Linux kernel's net/atm/lec.c component related to the lecd_attach() function. The issue involves a dangling pointer in dev_lec[] due to missing synchronization, which was fixed by adding a mutex (lec_mutex) to protect access in lecd_attach(), lec_vcc_attach(), and lec_mcast_attach(). The flaw was detected by syzbot and triggered kernel address sanitizer (KASAN) errors indicating slab-use-after-free conditions. The vulnerability affects Linux kernel version 2.6.12 and has been fixed in subsequent commits.
