Technical Analysis

CVE-2025-61560 describes a race condition vulnerability in the SessionManager of CNCF Argo CD, specifically affecting versions before 3.0.6. This vulnerability enables attackers to circumvent rate limiting mechanisms, facilitating brute force attacks through repeated crafted requests. No CVSS score or detailed exploit information is available, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

Attackers can bypass rate limiting protections, increasing the risk of successful brute force attacks against authentication or session management mechanisms. This could lead to unauthorized access if brute forcing succeeds. There is no evidence of active exploitation in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to Argo CD version 3.0.6 or later, where this race condition vulnerability is addressed. Since the affected versions are prior to 3.0.6, applying the official fix by updating is the recommended remediation. No other mitigation guidance is provided.
