Technical Analysis

CVE-2025-62826 is an HTTP Response Splitting vulnerability (CWE-113) in Fortinet FortiPAM and certain FortiOS and FortiProxy versions. It allows an attacker capable of intercepting and modifying captive portal authentication requests to inject arbitrary HTTP headers by exploiting improper neutralization of CRLF sequences in HTTP headers. This could lead to unauthorized code or command execution. The vulnerability affects FortiPAM versions 1.0.0 through 1.7.0 and FortiOS 7.2, 7.4, and 7.6.0 through 7.6.4, as well as FortiProxy in similar versions. The vendor has released an official fix.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker with network interception capabilities to inject arbitrary HTTP headers into captive portal authentication requests, potentially leading to unauthorized code or command execution. The CVSS score is 3.1 (low severity), indicating limited impact with high attack complexity and requiring user interaction. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

An official fix is available from Fortinet for this vulnerability. Users should apply the vendor-provided patches to affected FortiPAM versions (1.0.0 through 1.7.0) and related FortiOS and FortiProxy versions as soon as possible to remediate this issue.
