What to do
AI-suggested
Until an official patch is released, European organizations should implement strict network-level controls to restrict access to OmniDocs API endpoints, including IP whitelisting and VPN-only access. Conduct a thorough audit of API authorization logic and implement additional access control checks where possible. Enable detailed logging and monitoring of API requests to detect anomalous or unauthorized access attempts. Employ Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) with custom rules to block suspicious API calls that attempt to access privileged functions without authentication. Review and enforce the principle of least privilege for all user accounts and service integrations within OmniDocs. Engage with Newgen support for any available hotfixes or workarounds. Additionally, prepare incident response plans specific to potential account takeover scenarios and ensure rapid response capabilities. Regularly update and train security teams on emerging threats related to API security and broken authorization vulnerabilities.
Description
An unauthenticated Broken Function Level Authorization (BFLA) vulnerability in Newgen OmniDocs v11.0 allows attackers to obtain sensitive information and execute a full account takeover via a crafted API request.
