Technical Analysis

This vulnerability, classified under CWE-15 (External Control of System or Configuration Setting), affects QNAP QuRouter versions from 2.7.0 up to but not including 2.7.2.113. An attacker who already has local administrator privileges can exploit this flaw to modify system data by externally controlling configuration settings. The vulnerability has a low CVSS 4.0 score of 1.0, indicating limited impact and complexity. The vendor has released a fix in version 2.7.2.113.

Potential Impact

An attacker with local administrator privileges can modify system or configuration data on affected QuRouter versions, which could lead to unauthorized changes in system behavior or settings. However, the vulnerability requires high privileges to exploit and does not allow privilege escalation or remote exploitation, limiting its impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade QuRouter to version 2.7.2.113 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed. No other mitigation is necessary as the issue requires local administrator access and is resolved by the official patch.
