A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel commits e37d5a2d60a338c5917c45296bac65da1382eda5 and 9f0a7ab700f8620e433b05c57fbd26c92ea186d9. Users and administrators should update affected Linux kernel versions to these fixed versions or later to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation is required as the patch addresses the primary risk.
Description
CVE-2025-71202 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel affecting version 4.4. It involves stale IOTLB entries for the kernel address space not being invalidated properly, which could lead to serious security issues. The flaw is addressed by introducing a new IOMMU interface to flush IOTLB paging cache entries before kernel page table pages are freed and reused. This fix mitigates the primary risk triggered by unprivileged users, although a rare edge case related to reserved memory at boot remains unexploitable by unprivileged users.
