No alternative mitigations or workarounds are specified.
Description
CVE-2026-31435 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfs subsystem where read requests can be improperly abandoned during retry. This occurs because the 'subreq' variable used to track subrequests is sometimes uninitialized or points to deleted subrequests, leading to incorrect abandonment behavior. The issue has been fixed by properly initializing 'subreq' before abandonment and clearing it after discarding retryable subrequests to prevent invalid access.
