AI-suggested

Upgrade fast-agent to version 0.7.21 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Avoid running the server with the --shell option unless necessary and ensure proper network access controls to restrict access to the /mcp endpoint. Since the vulnerability is fixed in 0.7.21, applying this official update is the recommended remediation.

Description

fast-agent versions prior to 0.7.21 have an OS command injection vulnerability in the serve component when started with the --shell option. The server listens on all interfaces (0.0.0.0) on port 8000 without authentication, allowing unauthenticated remote clients to invoke the /mcp endpoint and execute operating system commands as the server user. Without the --shell option, clients can still access the operator's model and configured MCP tools. This issue is fixed in version 0.7.21.
