Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Eclipse Foundation
Product: NetX Duo

Description

CVE-2026-102760 is a use-after-free vulnerability in Eclipse Foundation's NetX Duo when built with NX_SECURE_KEY_CLEAR. The vulnerability occurs because TLS records are wiped after being handed to the TCP layer, which may have already released the packet memory. This causes memory corruption by writing zeros into freed or reused packets, potentially leading to out-of-bounds memory writes.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability arises in NetX Secure when the NX_SECURE_KEY_CLEAR option is enabled. After a TLS record is sent on an active session, the record is wiped (zeroed) post TCP handoff. Since TCP may have already released the packet to the packet pool, wiping writes zeros into memory that may be free or in use by another thread. Additionally, if the reused packet's pointers no longer describe the old data, the wipe length underflows and writes beyond the packet pool's end, causing a use-after-free condition (CWE-416).

Potential Impact

This use-after-free vulnerability can lead to memory corruption, which may cause application crashes, data corruption, or potentially enable an attacker to execute arbitrary code or escalate privileges. The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.3 (high severity) reflects the network attack vector with high impact on availability and moderate impact on integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Users should monitor Eclipse Foundation advisories for updates and consider disabling NX_SECURE_KEY_CLEAR if feasible until a fix is available.
