Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: TryGhost
Product: Ghost

Description

Ghost is a Node.js content management system. From 0.7.2 until 6.64.0, any staff-level user was able to determine the relative ordering of other staff users' hashed passwords. This does not directly disclose password hashes, and does not provide a practical path to recovering a password. This issue is fixed in version 6.64.0.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-105652 describes an observable discrepancy vulnerability (CWE-203) in the Ghost CMS allowing any staff-level user to determine the relative ordering of other staff users' hashed passwords. This flaw exists in versions >=0.7.2 and <6.64.0. Although it reveals some information about password hash ordering, it does not directly expose password hashes or facilitate password recovery. The issue was resolved in version 6.64.0.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows staff-level users to infer the relative order of hashed passwords of other staff users, which is a low-severity information disclosure. It does not expose actual password hashes or enable password recovery, limiting the practical impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Ghost to version 6.64.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated.
