CVE-2026-106101: CWE-843: Access of Resource Using Incompatible Type ('Type Confusion') in quasarframework quasar
Description
Quasar Framework is a framework for building high-performance Vue.js user interfaces. Prior to 2.32.2, the openURL() utility in ui/src/utils/open-url/open-url.js trusted window.SafariViewController whenever that global existed in an iOS environment. Attacker-controlled HTML rendered by components such as QEditor can create a named SafariViewController element, causing browser named-property resolution to replace the expected native bridge object. A later openURL() call then invokes isAvailable() on the element, throws a TypeError, and disrupts external navigation, login redirects, payment redirects, and other URL-opening workflows. QSelect and QChatMessage HTML-rendering configurations can expose the same trigger when they render attacker-controlled HTML. This issue is fixed in version 2.32.2.

Technical Analysis
Quasar Framework versions before 2.32.2 contain a type confusion vulnerability (CWE-843) in the openURL() utility located in ui/src/utils/open-url/open-url.js. The function trusts the global window.SafariViewController object in iOS environments. An attacker can inject HTML that creates a named SafariViewController element, causing the browser's named-property resolution to replace the expected native bridge object with the attacker-controlled element. Subsequent calls to openURL() invoke isAvailable() on this element, resulting in a TypeError that disrupts URL-opening workflows such as external navigation, login redirects, and payment redirects. Components like QEditor, QSelect, and QChatMessage that render attacker-controlled HTML can trigger this issue. The vulnerability is resolved in Quasar Framework version 2.32.2.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability causes a TypeError that disrupts external navigation and URL-opening workflows, including login and payment redirects. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity, and the severity is rated low with a CVSS score of 3.1. No known exploits are reported in the wild.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade to Quasar Framework version 2.32.2 or later, where this issue is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
