Published: 10/06/2026 (10/06/2026, 18:11:44 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: rabbitmq
Product: rabbitmq-java-client

Description

A vulnerability in the RabbitMQ Java client library prior to version 5.35.0 causes broker credentials to be exposed in exception messages when AMQP URI parsing fails. The ConnectionFactoryConfigurator.load() method includes the raw URI, which may contain plaintext usernames and passwords, in wrapped exceptions. This can lead to credential disclosure in logs and monitoring systems. The issue is fixed in version 5.35.0.

Technical Analysis

The RabbitMQ Java client library's ConnectionFactoryConfigurator.load() method, in versions before 5.35.0, improperly includes the raw AMQP URI in exception messages when URI parsing fails. Since the URI can contain plaintext credentials, these are exposed in logs, application monitoring, CI logs, and stack traces, potentially disclosing broker usernames and passwords to unauthorized users. This vulnerability is identified as CWE-509 (Replication of Malicious Code or Information Exposure). The issue is resolved in version 5.35.0.

Potential Impact

Exposure of RabbitMQ broker credentials in logs and monitoring systems can lead to unauthorized access if these logs are accessible to untrusted users. The vulnerability does not allow direct remote code execution or privilege escalation but can facilitate further attacks by leaking sensitive authentication information.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the rabbitmq-java-client library to version 5.35.0 or later, where this issue is fixed. No other specific mitigations are indicated.
