Users should monitor the vendor's advisories for updates. Until a fix is available, restrict contributor-level access to trusted users only and consider disabling or limiting the use of the 'date_format' parameter if possible. Applying strict input validation and output escaping on the affected parameter can mitigate exploitation risks.

Description

The s2Member WordPress plugin is vulnerable to a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) flaw via the 'date_format' parameter in all versions up to and including 261011. Authenticated users with contributor-level access or higher can inject malicious scripts that execute when other users view the affected pages. The vulnerability arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping, allowing payloads that bypass WordPress's wp_kses_post() filter by using backslash-escaped sequences that PHP's date() function converts into HTML tags at render time.
