Users should consider disabling snippet shortcodes to prevent exploitation. Monitor the vendor's advisory channels for updates or patches. Restrict contributor-level access to trusted users until a fix is available.
Description
The Post Snippets – Custom WordPress Code Snippets Customizer plugin is vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting (XSS) in all versions up to 4.2.4. Authenticated users with contributor-level access or higher can inject malicious scripts via shortcode attributes. The vulnerability arises because entity-encoded payloads bypass WordPress's sanitization and are decoded and executed at render time by the plugin's shortcode filter. This requires snippet shortcodes to be enabled for exploitation.
