Vendor/Project: saadiqbal
Product: Points Management System For Gamification, Ranks, Badges, and Loyalty Rewards Program – myCred

Description

The Points Management System For Gamification, Ranks, Badges, and Loyalty Rewards Program – myCred plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'wrap' Shortcode Attribute in all versions up to, and including, 3.1 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-8607 is a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the myCred plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions up to and including 3.1. The issue is due to improper neutralization of input in the 'wrap' shortcode attribute, allowing authenticated attackers with contributor-level privileges or above to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts execute in the context of users who access the injected pages, potentially leading to session hijacking or other script-based attacks. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 6.4, indicating a medium severity vulnerability with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and no user interaction required.

Potential Impact

An attacker with contributor-level access or higher can exploit this vulnerability to inject malicious scripts that execute in the browsers of users viewing the affected pages. This can lead to information disclosure, session hijacking, or other client-side impacts. The vulnerability does not affect availability and requires authenticated access.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict contributor-level access to trusted users only and consider disabling or limiting use of the 'wrap' shortcode attribute. Monitor official vendor channels for updates and apply patches promptly once released.
