Published: 10/16/2026 (10/16/2026, 06:00:14 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Product: Salon Booking System

Description

The Salon Booking System WordPress plugin before 10.31.9 does not generate its booking-API access tokens from a secure random source, instead deriving them from a value hardcoded in the Salon Booking System WordPress plugin before 10.31.9 and the second at which a token was issued. An attacker able to constrain when a staff or administrator token was issued can compute a valid token and access the booking API as that user, including an administrator.

Technical Analysis

The Salon Booking System WordPress plugin prior to version 10.31.9 suffers from improper authentication (CWE-287) due to insecure token generation. Access tokens for the booking API are derived from a hardcoded value combined with the token issuance time, making them predictable. This flaw allows an attacker who can constrain the token issuance time to compute valid tokens for staff or administrator accounts, thereby impersonating those users and accessing the booking API with their permissions.

Potential Impact

An attacker exploiting this vulnerability can gain unauthorized access to the booking API as a staff member or administrator. This could lead to unauthorized viewing or modification of booking data and potentially administrative control over the system. The vulnerability compromises the authentication mechanism, undermining the security of the affected plugin versions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Salon Booking System WordPress plugin to version 10.31.9 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed by using secure random sources for token generation. No other mitigation is indicated. Patch status is confirmed by the version boundary in the affectedVersions field.
