Technical Analysis

The Salon Booking System WordPress plugin prior to version 10.31.11 contains an improper input validation flaw (CWE-20). Specifically, when a fixed-amount discount is applied to a booking total, the plugin fails to enforce that the resulting total cannot be less than zero. This allows an unauthenticated attacker who knows a valid discount code to create bookings with negative totals, potentially impacting business logic related to booking payments.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to create confirmed bookings with negative totals by exploiting the lack of minimum total enforcement after discount application. This could lead to incorrect financial records or abuse of the booking system's payment logic. However, the CVSS score of 3.7 and the lack of confidentiality or availability impact indicate the overall risk is low.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Salon Booking System plugin version 10.31.11 and later. Users should upgrade to version 10.31.11 or newer to resolve this issue. No other mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
