Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-110976 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the AI Engine WordPress plugin prior to version 3.7.9. The plugin fails to check ownership of media items passed to certain media actions before converting them to attachments and deleting them. This allows users with Editor or higher roles to delete arbitrary posts, including restricted content types like navigation menus, block templates, and global styles, which they normally cannot delete.

Potential Impact

Users with Editor role or higher can delete arbitrary posts and content types they are not normally authorized to remove. This can lead to unauthorized content deletion, potentially disrupting website functionality and content integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the AI Engine WordPress plugin to version 3.7.9 or later, where this authorization check issue has been fixed. No other mitigation is indicated.
