Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-110982 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the AI Engine WordPress plugin versions prior to 3.8.6. The plugin fails to verify that the caller has permission to edit the targeted object before allowing updates to its title and excerpt. This enables users with Editor-level privileges or higher to modify arbitrary posts of any type, including those they are not normally authorized to edit, such as navigation menus, block templates, global styles, and WooCommerce coupons.

Potential Impact

Users with the Editor role or higher can modify content they should not have access to, potentially leading to unauthorized changes in site navigation, templates, styles, and e-commerce coupons. This could affect site integrity and business operations by allowing unauthorized content manipulation.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the AI Engine plugin to version 3.8.6 or later, where this authorization check issue has been fixed. No other mitigation is indicated as the vendor advisory confirms the fix in 3.8.6.
