Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: aio-libs
Product: aiohttp

Description

CVE-2026-111064 is a high-severity vulnerability in aiohttp, an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for Python. Versions prior to 3.14.4 lack keepalive timeout handling during the initial phase of a request, allowing an attacker to keep idle connections open indefinitely without sending request data. This can exhaust server connection capacity. The issue is fixed in version 3.14.4.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability identified as CVE-2026-111064 affects aiohttp versions before 3.14.4. It stems from the absence of keepalive timeout enforcement during the initial portion of a request, enabling attackers to maintain idle connections indefinitely. This behavior leads to resource exhaustion on the server by consuming available connection slots. The flaw corresponds to CWE-770, which involves allocation of resources without limits or throttling. The vendor fixed this issue in aiohttp version 3.14.4.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to keep idle connections open indefinitely, consuming server connection capacity and potentially causing denial of service by exhausting resources. There is no indication of remote code execution or data compromise, but the resource exhaustion can degrade service availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade aiohttp to version 3.14.4 or later, where the keepalive timeout handling during the initial request phase is implemented to prevent indefinite idle connections. No other mitigations are specified or required.
