Published: 10/19/2026 (10/19/2026, 16:59:47 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: aio-libs
Product: aiohttp

Description

AIOHTTP is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for asyncio and Python. From 2.0.0 until 3.14.4, multipart request processing can retain an unbounded number of open file descriptors. An unauthenticated attacker can consequently exhaust file descriptors with specially crafted multipart requests when a handler uses Request.post(). This issue is fixed in version 3.14.4.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability CVE-2026-111066 affects aiohttp versions >=2 and <3.14.4. It is caused by uncontrolled resource consumption (CWE-400) due to multipart request processing retaining an unlimited number of open file descriptors. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending crafted multipart requests to a handler that uses Request.post(), leading to exhaustion of file descriptors and potential denial of service. The issue is resolved in aiohttp version 3.14.4.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can cause denial of service by exhausting the server's file descriptors through specially crafted multipart requests. This can disrupt service availability for applications using affected aiohttp versions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade aiohttp to version 3.14.4 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
