Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Apache Software Foundation
Product: Apache Traffic Server

Description

CVE-2026-111810 is a high-severity vulnerability in Apache Traffic Server versions 9.2.15, 10.1.4, and 10.2.0. The issue involves uncontrolled resource consumption due to unthrottled logging of diagnostic lines for each internal @ header stripped from requests. This can cause excessive log data generation, impacting availability. Fixed versions 9.2.16, 10.1.5, and 10.2.1 address this problem.

Technical Analysis

Apache Traffic Server versions 9.2.15, 10.1.4, and 10.2.0 have a CWE-400 uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability. The server writes one unthrottled diagnostic log line for every internal @ header stripped from incoming requests. If a request contains many such headers, the proxy generates significantly more log data than the request itself, potentially leading to resource exhaustion. This vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 score of 7.5 (high severity) with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and impacts availability only. Upgrading to versions 9.2.16, 10.1.5, or 10.2.1 mitigates the issue.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability can cause excessive log data generation, leading to uncontrolled resource consumption and potential denial of service by exhausting system resources related to logging. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity. No known exploits in the wild have been reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade Apache Traffic Server to versions 9.2.16, 10.1.5, or 10.2.1, which contain fixes for this vulnerability. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated.
