CVE-2026-112269: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling in sgl-project sglang
Description
CVE-2026-112269 is a denial of service vulnerability in SGLang through version 0.5.22. The issue arises from the Mooncake disaggregation backend accepting unauthenticated decode registration messages on the Prefill rank ZMQ PULL socket. An attacker can send many registration messages with unique session IDs and large nested-buffer frames, exhausting Prefill memory and causing the scheduler to be killed due to out-of-memory conditions.

Technical Analysis
SGLang versions up to and including 0.5.22 contain a vulnerability where the Mooncake disaggregation backend accepts unauthenticated decode registration messages on the Prefill rank ZMQ PULL socket. This allows a network-adjacent attacker to send numerous registration messages with unique mooncake_session_id values and large nested-buffer frames. The excessive registrations exhaust the Prefill memory, leading to an out-of-memory (OOM) condition that kills the scheduler process, resulting in a denial of service.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated network-adjacent attacker can cause a denial of service by exhausting memory resources on the Prefill component, leading to the termination of the scheduler process. This disrupts normal operation of the SGLang system using the Mooncake backend.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider restricting access to the Prefill rank ZMQ PULL socket to trusted sources to prevent unauthenticated registration messages.
