Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: sgl-project
Product: sglang

Description

CVE-2026-112270 is a high-severity vulnerability in SGLang through version 0.5.22 involving uncontrolled memory allocation in the Mooncake disaggregation backend. An unauthenticated network-adjacent attacker can exploit this by sending specially crafted STAGING_RSP messages with large chunk_idx values to exhaust Prefill memory, potentially causing the scheduler process to be killed due to out-of-memory conditions.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability exists in the handle_staging_rsp() function of SGLang versions up to 0.5.22 when using the Mooncake disaggregation backend. Attackers can obtain the rank address from the /route endpoint and send STAGING_RSP messages with very large chunk_idx values under new room IDs. This triggers uncontrolled memory allocation without limits or throttling, leading to exhaustion of Prefill memory and causing the scheduler to be terminated by the operating system due to out-of-memory (OOM) conditions. The attack requires no authentication and can be performed by network-adjacent attackers.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in denial of service by exhausting Prefill memory, causing the scheduler process to be OOM-killed. This disrupts normal operation of the affected SGLang service, potentially impacting availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, consider restricting access to the /route endpoint and monitoring for unusual STAGING_RSP message patterns to mitigate exploitation risk.
