Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-114110 describes a relative path traversal vulnerability in the astral-sh uv package prior to version 0.11.6. The flaw allows attackers to supply malicious wheel packages whose RECORD entries include relative traversal paths referencing files outside the installation prefix. When the user uninstalls such a package, uv deletes these referenced files, enabling arbitrary file deletion.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to delete arbitrary files on the system during package uninstallation, potentially leading to data loss or system instability. The vulnerability does not require privileges or user interaction and has a high severity score (CVSS 8.7).

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade astral-sh uv to version 0.11.6 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are indicated. Patch status is confirmed fixed in 0.11.6.
