Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves the generation of error messages that contain sensitive information (CWE-209) in the catalog functionality of KNIME Business Hub versions before 1.18.5. Specifically, an authenticated remote attacker who knows a workflow ID can obtain the names of workflows through these error messages. The issue is fixed in version 1.18.5. There is no known workaround for this vulnerability.

Potential Impact

An authenticated remote attacker can gain access to workflow names by exploiting overly informative error messages. This information disclosure could aid in further reconnaissance or targeted attacks within the KNIME Business Hub environment. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 6.9 (medium severity), reflecting network attack vector with low complexity and no privileges required, but limited impact confined to information disclosure.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade KNIME Business Hub to version 1.18.5 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. There is no workaround available, so applying the official patch is necessary to remediate the issue.
