AI-suggested
A fix is available in OpenRemote core version 1.31.0 and later. Users should upgrade to version 1.31.0 or newer to remediate this authorization bypass vulnerability. No vendor advisory content was provided to indicate alternative mitigations or temporary fixes.
Description
OpenRemote core versions before 1.31.0 have an authorization bypass vulnerability where inbound edge gateway events do not undergo proper realm or gateway-descendant authorization. This allows an attacker controlling a registered gateway to manipulate event asset IDs to overwrite or delete assets across different realms, breaking tenant isolation.
Impact
An attacker controlling a registered gateway can overwrite attributes or delete assets belonging to any realm, violating tenant isolation. This could lead to unauthorized modification or deletion of data across tenants, potentially disrupting operations or causing data integrity issues. However, the CVSS score is low (2.3), indicating limited impact or exploitability under the given conditions.
