Users should monitor the vendor's advisory channels for an official update. Until a fix is available, restrict user roles to trusted individuals only and consider disabling or removing the Advanced Members for ACF plugin if possible. Avoid granting Subscriber or higher privileges to untrusted users.
Description
The Advanced Members for ACF WordPress plugin versions up to 1.3.0 contain a privilege escalation vulnerability. This flaw allows authenticated users with Subscriber-level access or higher to overwrite the password of the primary administrator account (user ID 1) via a specially crafted shortcode form submission. The vulnerability arises from a PHP operator-precedence bug that causes an authorization check to incorrectly pass and results in the administrator password being reset to an attacker-chosen value, granting full administrative control.
