A fix for this vulnerability is available in commit c146486 (PR #31), merged on 2026-05-04. Users should update to this commit or later to remediate the issue. Since this is an open-source platform and not a cloud service managed by AWS, users must apply the patch themselves. Refer to the AWS Security Bulletin for the most current remediation guidance.
Description
CVE-2026-119085 is a template injection vulnerability in the publishing component of the open-source Virtual Engineering Workbench (VEW). This flaw allows a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code with the permissions of the publishing Lambda's IAM role. The vulnerability affects all commits before commit c146486, which was merged on 2026-05-04. The issue arises from improper neutralization of special elements in the template engine used by the publishing component.
